Pelvic floor therapy is beneficial to everyone, and can help reduce pain, improve function, and help you live life to the fullest again.

Pelvic floor & core dysfunction can present in many different ways - pain, instability, reduced flexibility, tension, etc. This group of muscles changes throughout your lifetime. Pregnancy and post-partum periods are the most common times of the greatest changes to your pelvic floor, but other life events can also affect it, including menopause, trauma/mental health events, chronic diagnoses, and more. Without optimal function, our pelvic floor can provide for us, we soon find out that leakage, back pain, pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, and so much more can interfere in our daily lives.

Pregnancy is one of the most challenging, empowering, incredible tasks that our bodies take on. Your body stretches and grows to accommodate the growth of a human inside of you, but that can take a toll on your body and mind.

There are hormones that relax your ligaments and joints, hormones that alter the amount and consistencies of natural secretions our bodies make, and physical requirements that your growing belly needs in order to support and stabilize it. Pregnancy alters us in many ways, and can often cause discomfort in the form of pain and pressure.

My goal is to empower you. I want to provide you with the tools, education, and training to help you feel prepared for pregnancy. Whether you’re planning your first pregnancy and want to be as ready as possible (this was me!), or you’re on your 3rd pregnancy but having a hard time running around after your 2 littles and could use some help with pain management, pre-natal services will help provide you the education, strength, and pain management you need to optimize pregnancy, birth, and the 4th trimester!

Pregnant belly

I provide consultations within the first 6 weeks post-partum to moms who want to know what the "next step" is to safely exercising, who need help with baby wearing and breastfeeding ergonomics, or who have had trauma during births and will need pelvic floor therapy (i.e. perineal tearing, episiotomy, broken tailbone, etc). These 6 weeks are vital to your mental and physical health, and are overlooked by most healthcare providers, so I like to provide you with the option of seeing a healthcare provider in that time period.

Within the first 6 weeks, I can provide you with education & information on healthy core engagement, proper body mechanics, etc. I also complete a mental health screening with your consent. This does not involve any sort of hands-on therapy, and is consultative only.

The post-natal consultation takes place in your home for 60-90 minutes depending on your needs and goals.

Empower Your Pelvis is committed to exceeding your needs. Questions, comments or special requests? We’d love to hear from you, so don’t hesitate in reaching out today.
